Hair Emergencies: That Certain Something

Limp and lifeless, frizzed and frenzied or wild and wooly—when you're having a hair emergency, don't call 911. Count on my good friend, Dean Banowetz, the Hollywood hair guy, for quick fix solutions you could do at home. "When in doubt, every woman should have a scarf, a headband, a bandana, pins, buns, just clips because accessories are quick hair fixes. Doesn't matter if you don't think you're perfect—an accessory will make you perfect," says Dean. Quick fix number two: volumize. "Teasing, back combing, you know a little root lift always helps to give a little more body and volume. So when in doubt, if you want to put a little back combing in the crown, it just helps to lift you up," says Dean. And quick tip number three: don't over-fantasize. "The biggest misconception is everything you see on that cover of a magazine is probably smoke and mirrors. So be realistic about when you do your hair and you make beautiful things happen," say Dean. And remember, lush gorgeous hair starts with a healthy diet rich in protein. So go ahead, turn heads with your fabulous head of hair, and you'll always have that certain something.
